KARLIN HOUSEN - AUTHOR
Karlin Housen, the owner of both HOUZEN Events and Brooklyn Publishing, was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, graduated from Ashford University with a degree in Public Relations and Marketing. She’s also an accomplished Special Events Director, who has worked in the industry for 12+ years, offering concierge event management to all spectrums of businesses.
Karlin has worked on various special events and projects for companies such as Citibank, The Mayor of Jacksonville and The Florida Theatre within cities ranging from New York, Miami, Jacksonville, and the Islands. While working with various companies delivering unforgettable experiences, she realized the need for more kindness in the world, spawning the launch of her company, Brooklyn Publishing, LLC.
Karlin has been featured, on News 4 JAX Morning Show, News 4 JAX River City Live and spotlighted in Arbus Magazine. The expertise, dedication and attention to making experiences set her apart from the rest. Her greatest strengths are her ability to persevere, create positive energy and spread kindness to everyone she meets. Karlin now lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband Atiba and two children, son Karryl and daughter Anessa.
KARRYL EUGENE - ILLUSTRATOR
Karryl Eugene is the illustrator of the Max the Blue Jay series, born and raised in Brooklyn New York. He is 20 years old and currently attends the Maryland Institute College of Art. His passion for the arts started at a young age. Karryl fell in love with doodling and creating art. He attended Performing Arts Schools all through elementary and junior high school. The prestigious high school, Douglas Anderson School of Art is where he developed the skill to become an artist.
Karryl’s passion for illustration has been prevalent in his life from a very young age. He loves creating characters related to what he saw and experienced growing up. He continually declares his love of spreading positivity through art.
Anessa housen - jr. editor
Anessa Housen is Jr. Editor of the Max the Blue Jay series, born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. She is 12 years old and currently attends Progress Village Middle Magnet School of the Arts. She is passionate about making her voice heard and helping others. Anessa has been instrumental in helping us see through the eyes of her generation. Her contribution to Max the Blue Jay is not Having a Good day is invaluable. Anessa enjoys cooking, dancing, cheerleading and reading.
